The Canadian Federal Government plans to welcome more high skilled immigrants for Permanent Residency in 2019 than it did in 2018, according to the multi-year immigration levels plan. This year’s target for 81,400 compared to last years’ admissions of 74,900.

IRCC have to issue in 2019 than it did last year in order to meet 2019 and 2020 admission targets. IRCC gradually increased draw sizes last year from 2,750 to 3,900. If it continues to be of similar pattern, then this years’ draws starting from 3,900 ITAs could grow higher. The higher number of express entry draws might results in a minimum number of CRS scores.

Canada increased its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) target significantly in addition to the rising number of Express Entry targets for 2018.

The Tie Break rule for January 10 draw was January 2, 2019, at 11:40:53 UTC. This means that the candidates who will score 449 or above who entered their express entry profile in the express entry pool before January 2, 2019, will receive an ITA in this invitation round.

Express Entry Draw System

The Express Entry System manages the candidates’ pool for the three federal economic immigration programs, “Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.”

The profiles of the candidates will be assigned with a score based on the CRS which awards points for factors like age, education, work experience, and language proficiency in either French or English.

The highest ranked candidates will get an ITA through regular draws.
