The new immigration changes were announced as part of the IRCC report to the parliament which was announced publically on 31st October.
2019-2021 new Canada immigration plan positions Canada welcomes more than 1.3 million permanent residents through various humanitarian, economic, family, and refugee immigration categories in between the years 2018 and 2021. This will be based on its annual targets.
The new extended plan till 2021 will call for increasing the admission targets every year up to 350,000 in 2021. Originally, the targets for 2019 and 2020 were set to 330,000 and 340,000. These targets have now been increased to 330,800 and 341,000.
Under this new 2019-2021 plan, Canada will welcome the new talented workers with the skills that will benefit the Canadian economy. Canada will accommodate more refugees looking to start a new business, and reunite more family members, said Ahmed Hussen, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship of Canada.
Prominent Roles for the Provincial Nominee Programs, and Express Entry
Under the new plan, the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) and the Express Entry programs managed by the Federal Express Entry System will continue to play their key role. This will expand the number of potential admissions through each immigration program from 2019 to 2021.
The Express Entry System manages the candidate’s pool for the three primary Federal economic Canada immigration categories, “the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and the Canadian Experience Class.”
PNP’s have a combined target of 255,100 over the 4 years. This will allow the participating provinces and territories of Canada to nominate a number of immigration candidates for Canada PR every year based on the needs of the local labour market.
Canada Immigration Extends Admission for Potential Family Class
IRCC is increasing the range of admissions through its children, family, spouses, and partner’s sponsorship category while maintaining its targets for 2018-2020. It is also increasing the range of potential admissions through its Parents and Grandparents sponsorship program while maintaining its targets for 2019-2020. The admission target for this program is set to 21,000 in 2021.
Canada was and will always be the welcoming beacon of hope for all immigrants. The extended immigration plans of Canada are good news for people looking for opportunities and start a new life in Canada.
